Family, Nature, & City: A San Francisco Courthouse Wedding

San Francisco is one of my favorite places. It’s a city rich in culture, amazing food, music, and history. I should know. I lived there for 7 years and traveled all around the Bay. It’s a place I return to time and time again—to see friends mostly—but also to hit up those favorite spots I knew I would miss when I moved.

So, of course I was too excited to capture Ashley & Paul’s intimate wedding at the epic San Francisco City Hall.

A gif image of a couple's first look on their wedding day, the groom is stunned!

On my first phone call with the couple, I tried to illustrate what a perfect San Francisco wedding would look like. I think it worked because—lucky for me—they loved my ideas! And we moved forward with planning their beautiful day.

In just a few months, we planned their wedding. It was a tight timeline for the military couple. They knew they wanted to tie the knot before moving to Alaska. What an adventure!

Ashley and Paul started their day by getting ready together in an Airbnb in Daly City with quite the view. The two nixed some of the traditions of a wedding day, but kept the first look.

This ended up being such an amazing first look for wedding photos. I think I might have seen Paul shed a tear!

We headed to the beach for some alone time before the ceremony. You may not think of the Bay Area as a prime beach location because of how cold it can be. But the beaches here are stunning, and worth a trip all their own.

Later, we met at the courthouse for their intimate ceremony. San Francisco City Hall is gorgeous. From its ornate interior to windows that let in soft lighting, it’s the ideal spot to say, “I do.”

After their wedding—surrounded by their closest family members—we explored the courthouse for a bit. And made sure to get the classic stairs shot! IFYKYK!

We ended the day at one of my favorite Golden Gate Bridge lookouts. Nothing makes me happier than taking couples here and hearing them get so excited about these amazing views. Paul’s cousins joined, making for such a fun time. They played the role of hype women for Ashley and Paul—helping them loosen up and celebrate for their photos. It was so fun!
