Commitment Wedding Ceremony in Malibu, California

California is famous for its long and epic beaches. Oregon—on the other hand—gets all the attention when it comes to majestic cliffsides overlooking the ocean. The idea that California looks like a version of The OC TV show just isn’t accurate. Californians can boast about our own beautiful cliffside beaches, especially in places like Malibu, Laguna Beach, San Francisco, and Big Sur.

An Elopement on the Coast of California

So when Chloe & Matt reached out wanting to say “I do” on a cliffside in Southern California, I knew we were about to have a beautiful wedding celebration.

After getting ready in a local hotel, the couple hired a party bus to drive them and their immediate family members to Leo Carillo State Beach. We drove together, laughing, listening to music, and enjoying the views while we coasted along Pacific Coast Highway.

Once we arrived, the couple had a self-lead commitment ceremony to honor their wedding day, which had legally happened on 2/22/22. What a number! Tears were shed as Chloe’s mother read through their prepared script.

Once the ceremony and family photos were completed, Chloe, Matt, and I headed out for some personal time. I had just learned how beautiful Malibu really could be when I checked out the spot they had picked. In April, after some rains, the rolling hills of Malibu were coated in fresh yellow blooms. Thank you again to the California super bloom!

This short and sweet wedding ceremony was the perfect way to spend an afternoon in one of the most popular spots in California.

Meet Your Southern California Elopement Photographer

I'm Diana Lustig, a California-born adventurer with a camera for a hand and an inborn love for the outdoors. I'm a professional photographer of 15 years and counting. I was raised in Orange County and spent years of my life walking the beaches of Southern California with my camera.

How did i get into wedding and elopement photography? In 2019, I hired adventure photographers for my own wedding and they showed me there’s a different, more personal way to get married. It was such a special day, I want to bring it to so many more couples who believe in getting married their own way.
