Couples Photoshoot in the Backroads of Las Vegas

I love getting off the beaten path. Yes, national parks and popular landmarks are super cool—they’re famous for a reason, after all. But I really enjoy getting lost in lesser-known areas that are just as beautiful.

When Mari and Fabian recommended this spot in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, I just knew we had to photograph there.

It was a quiet weekday, so we saw very few other people here. The weather was especially gentle for Las Vegas, with soft natural light filling the area just before sunset. As Mari and Fabian struck a pose for the camera, their kids gleefully climbed on boulders and hid behind rocks.

The whole vibe was delightfully laid back. Between snapping photos, we talked about their life in the area, the hikes they enjoyed, and their hobbies. Fabian played at being camera shy before each photo, only to flash the biggest smiles. Mari would call in the kids for family photos here and there, but mostly let them scamper and play.

The whole couple’s photoshoot went by in a flash. Time flies when you’re having fun, I guess. But I was super appreciative that Mari and Fabian showed me this delightful desert area.

Meet Your Las Vegas Photographer

I'm Diana Lustig, a California native with a camera for a hand and an inborn love for the outdoors. I'm a professional photographer of 15 years and counting. In my free time you'll find me traveling with my husband in our van, Clyde.

How did i get into wedding and elopement photography? In 2019, I hired adventure photographers for my own wedding and they showed me there’s a different, more personal way to get married. It was such a special day, I want to bring it to so many more couples who believe in getting married their own way.
